300 gr spaghetti
3 slices smoked ham
40 gr parmesan cheese (shavings)
1 medium onion
2 tbsp olive oil
½ mug of water
10 sweet cherry tomatoes

In a shallow pan place the chopped onion with water and oil. Cook with lid on for 10 minutes until water is reduced and onions are glossy. In the meantime, chop the ham in small pieces. When the onion is ready, add the ham and the cheese. Cook for a minute stirring all the time until the parmesan starts melting but is not dissolved, turn off the heat. Cut the tomatoes in half add them to the pan with the basil and mix. Cook the spaghetti al dente and add the sauce reserving some for individual toppings. Serve with black pepper.
*It is important for best results, that the parmesan is not grated but shavings
